Electro-mechanical devices, known as a parking ticket machines, can be found in all parking areas on public streets and roads. These enable users to pay a certain amount of money to park on the street (which requires payment in almost all cases). The machine issues a parking ticket, indicating the date and time at which the driver parked his/her vehicle and the length of time for which he/she is permitted to park in the space (depending on the amount of money paid by the user). Parking ticket machines are capable of managing a large number of parking spaces, unlike parking meters, which only manage one or two spaces.
The driver must buy a ticket to cover the entire duration of his/her stay in the parking space, and the ticket issued by the parking ticket machine must be clearly displayed inside the vehicle's windscreen. Where the driver fails to meet these conditions, he/she may be issued with a fine for illegal parking. The parking ticket machine is therefore an important parking management device in urban areas.
