An outdoor car park is any dedicated space for the parking of individual vehicles, with open sides for ventilation purposes. Outdoor car parks do not therefore require ventilation systems or air ducts, as they are naturally ventilated through the exchange of internal and external air.
Outdoor car parks therefore require less energy to operate. It is therefore cheaper to operate an outdoor car park than a covered car park, particularly in terms of electricity consumption, since outdoor car parks also benefit from natural outdoor lighting. As a result, outdoor car parks are often cheaper for motorists and motorcyclists that use them.
The term outdoor car parks also refers to ground-level spaces on public land.
