An automatic payment machine is an automatic payment terminal found in many car parks (except those with manned booths at the entrances and exits), and at road toll stations. These machines allow car park users to pay their parking charges either in cash (coins or notes) or by bank card.
When a car driver or motorbike rider parks in a paid car park, he/she collects a ticket from the automatic payment machine, indicating the date and time at which the parking period starts. Later, when user returns to his/her vehicle, he/she must insert the ticket into the automatic payment machine, which will indicate the amount due.
Automatic payment machines offer a highly secure and regulated payment system.
Automatic payment machines are also becoming more common in supermarkets and other stores.
